Evoking images of lazy Sundays at the beach or a drive down the Great Ocean Road, Australian singer-songwriter Jess Lee and her band are re-writing the pop landscape with their unique beachy-pop sound.

A part of Melbourne’s music scene for over 6 years, Jess’s music captures a timeless combination of moving melodies and evocative lyrics, which feature on her newly released EP.

Producer Jimi Maroudas (Eskimo Joe, Bertie Blackman, The Little Stevies) helped Jess capture the sun-swept sound and feel that shines through in the EP. He says “from the outset Jess and I spent a lot of time just talking about how her music made us feel and the honesty in her lyrics. Our focus throughout the recording was to stay true to that original sentiment and feeling we had, when Jess first played me her songs with just her vocal and an acoustic guitar.”
As Jess and her band have toured, recorded at Sing Sing Studios, been guided by and worked with the likes of Jack the Bear, Brian Cadd, Travis Dempsey, Glenn Shorrock and Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, their unique-to-Jess-Lee sound is set to make its mark.

In an industry filled with disposable pop songs, Jess Lee attempts something deeper. Listing her influences as Missy Higgins, Eva Cassidy, Brooke Fraser and John Foreman, she says “I keep writing music because it has the power to change hearts and identify with the human experience.

Corey (acoustic guitar) had been playing and writing with Jess for some time. They wouldn’t have picked it, but his soulful and tender guitar playing and her heartwarming lyrics and melody are a perfect fit. Jess and Corey were then very pleasantly surprised to have a third member fit in so seamlessly, and Pete’s (bass guitar and acoustic) creativity and discerning ear add to the groups refreshing uniqueness.

Jess Lee’s five track EP that has just been released, is produced by Jimi Maroudas and includes feature tracks “Rescue Boat” and “Pieces”.
